| My darling friend Arden inspired me to write a very quick update. The summer is in full swing, and it is currently about 90 degrees inside my apartment...sweat is dripping, everywhere. not complaining though - i adore summer. i love the heat - bring it on baby! (just thankful to have a window a/c in the bedroom). Kyle's brother recently got married and so now I have a sister-in-law! yeah for that - it's fun having another Jodrey woman to sympathize with about how messy those Jodrey boys can be, or how hard it is to directly or indirectly refer to 'Momma J' and "Dad J'. (does it ever get easier people?) My sister Rachel and her hubby moved in to the apartment next-door to us. What a blast! Now we always have people to play tennis with, go to the beach, watch movies, etc. i love it! I'm trying to enjoy my summer in anticipation of grad school starting and consequently my life ending. So far it's going well. Made it to the beach and the zoo - finally finished my honeymoon and engagement scrapbook -now, on to the wedding. Too bad our two year anniversary is already coming up. I can't keep up with life! Good thing we're waiting a while to have kids :) In other news - i bought an ipod recently - too bad there is a gaping hole in my dashboard where my car stereo was a few months ago - otherwise I'd say i'm loving listening to my 'pod in the car. oh well - what can you do. We're in a new small group with church and enjoying getting to know some new couples and reading a good book (see below). Speaking of that - we're hosting tonight so i'd better ske-daddle and clean this messy apartment. TTFN!

| "The
West is always concerned with trade imbalance, but are we equally
concerned with cultural imbalance? By cultural imbalance I mean
countries like Saudi Arabia who have access inside Amercian society
while giving America no access inside Saudi Arabian society. Radical
Muslims regard non-Muslims walking on their land as an insult, a
desecration of Muslim land, and some Muslim preachers go as far as to
say they should be killed. The radical sheikh Hamza in Britian said
non-Muslims walking on Muslim lands are like cows--they can be sold as
slaves or killed. Muslim countries enjoy the freedom to build mosques,
preach Islam, finance Islami groups and schools, sponsor Middle East
studies departments in our state-run universities, and lobby our
politicians in Washington while at the same time refusing Americans
access to the same rights inside Muslim countries. American citizens
have no right to build synaagogues or churches, or preach or estabilish
religious schools in Saudia Arabia or any other Muslim country. In
Saudi Arabia no religion other than Islam is allowed to be practiced.
After 9/11, the U.S. was denied access to almost all Arab media and
prevented from placing ads to explain the U.S. point of view in its war
on terror or clarify misinformation and propaganda widespread among the
Arab public. Yet over the last few decades, radical Muslim countries
such as Saudi Arabia have had almost total freedom to spread radical
Wahabi Islam in American society, universities, and even in prisons.
Saudis are helping themselvest to our open system to Islamize us, and
we are not even charging them for it...The threat is not just to our
ports but also inside American ulture, American media, and even
Hollywood. The normally highly vocal Hollywood activists, despite
threats against Los Angeles highrise buildings and airports, have been
strangely silent as innocent people were murdered by Islamic terrorsits
in Bali nightsclubs, hotels in Amman, shops and restaurnats in Turkey
and Morocco, underground statioins in London, and morning rush-hour
trains in Spain. Throughout history, Hollywood has shown us that their
greatest gift comes when they shine a light into the darkest places,
when they give ovoice to the voiceless or power to the powerless. But
in recent years Hollywood has given too much glory and "understanding"
to terrorists and too little honor to their victims. Perhaps that will
change. Some honest, gutsy Hollywood movies could reflect a mirror back
to the decent people in my culture of origin where terrorism and hatred
has become a part of normal life and has caused unimaginable
suffering...America must protect its democracy, culture, and
sovereignty from nations with aspirations of conquering us from within.
Perhaps it is time to revise the international laws governing not just
our trade imbalance, but also "access imbalance." We should demand
nothing less than access for access."
Written by Noni Darwish,
the daughter of an Egyptian Muslim Shahid (martyr for Jihad), this is
an excerpt from the excellent and enlightening book I just read: "Now
They Call Me Infidel: Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel and the
War on Terror". If you want to honestly debate things such as the war,
terrorism and Islam, I challenge you to read this book first. | | |

| Ha ha! I'm noticing a trend here... The only time I write on my xanga site is when I'm on my night-shift rotation b/c i'm sleeping at weird hours and awake at odd times. Since I only work nights every four months, this means my xanga log is pretty sad and out-of-date, but that's ok, because nobody cares anyways. Here are some quick updates: No, neither of my cats are pregnant. (well, since Sam's a boy, that would be pretty hard anyways) No, Kyle is not a cop yet. No, I am not pregnant. No, we have not bought a house yet. No, I am not yet a nurse practitioner...but I did interview at UIC last week, and if I get in, I will be starting grad school in the fall in an attempt to become one. Yes, we still go to Harvest Bible Chapel - NILES campus and love it, and we are loving our 2:1 (newly married ministry) small group. It ends in May and I don't know what we'll do with ourselves from there. Yes, I am still working in the NICU at Children's and Kyle is still working at Just Rite Acoustics. Yes, God is still faithful and amazing and we are still trying to live lives worthy of His name.
